If you are married or in a de facto relationship with Australian citizen, Australian permanent residence or eligible New Zealand citizen than you may be eligible to apply for a partner visa whether you are in Australia or overseas. You will first need to apply for temporary visa and after two years of applying for your temporary partner visa than you can apply for permanent residency. If you are in a long-term relationship with your spouse or partner than you will be eligible to apply for permanent residency straight away.

If you are an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen and if you have a Fiancé/e or a prospective spouse overseas, then you will be able to apply for prospective marriage visa where your Fiancé/e or prospective spouse is overseas get visa for nine months and he/she arrives in Australia you can get married within nine months and then apply for partner visa here in Australia. However, you must have met them in person after you become adult to be eligible to apply for this visa.
